How you would deliver it
- 1
Package the instructions, the knowledge files and the usage guide together.

Show example conversations, which is the clearest proof a configuration works.
- 3
Deliver the configuration as a documented file the buyer sets up, with a walkthrough.
- 4
Update the instructions when the underlying model changes and sell a new edition.
Why it works for chatgpt creators
ChatGPT configurations have an unusual problem: they look trivial. Anyone can write instructions, and the platform invites people to share them for free. The distinction that makes them sellable is constraint. Instructions that handle the specific awkward cases of one profession — what to do when a field is missing, when the source contradicts itself, when the answer must be hedged — produce usable output where general ones do not. That is what the buyer is paying for.
Proof and packaging together carry the price. Example conversations showing the configuration working on realistic inputs are far more convincing than a description of the instructions, and the knowledge-file structure plus a usage guide turn a text file into something the buyer can set up in fifteen minutes. Both matter more than the prompt itself, which is why a bare instruction set prices low.
The limitation is that this is text, and text copies. There is no technical protection worth relying on. Keeping the price accessible and bundling the parts that do not survive a copy — the walkthrough, the knowledge base, the updates — is a more realistic strategy than trying to prevent duplication, and it keeps the product honest.

What these sell for: £19–£29 for a configuration with a usage guide. Selling access alone prices low and is shared away.
On a sale the buyer covers the privacy & security fee, and card processing comes out of our share — so a £29 price pays you £23.20. See the full split.

ChatGPT creators questions
Can I sell a custom GPT when GPTs are shareable?
What you sell is the configuration and the documentation, not access to a link you could simply pass around. Instructions, knowledge-file structure, usage guidance and the walkthrough are what a buyer cannot get from a shared URL, and they are what holds the price. Selling access is a poor product; selling the setup is a good one.
How do I stop buyers copying and reselling the instructions?
You cannot fully, and it is worth knowing before pricing. Instructions are text and copy easily. Keeping the price accessible, and including material that does not survive copying — the walkthrough, the knowledge files, the updates — reduces both the incentive and the damage.
What makes one instruction set worth more than another?
Constraint and specificity. Instructions that describe exactly how to handle the awkward cases in one profession produce usable output; general "you are a helpful assistant" instructions do not. Buyers are paying for the failure modes you have already solved, which is why documenting them is worth more than adding more instructions.
