Why it works for AI consultants
A consultant's reusable assets are almost always given away. The framework is used on every engagement, the assessment is applied repeatedly, yet it is handed over inside a project or explained for free on a discovery call. Turning it into a product does not reduce the consulting; it monetises the part of the work that was never billed separately because there was nowhere to bill it.
Business buyers behave differently from consumers in a way that helps here. They compare a toolkit against the cost of the problem, or against an agency engagement, rather than against other downloads — which supports a price in the tens or hundreds rather than the tens of pounds. They also care about the provenance of the framework, which is why a recorded walkthrough explaining the reasoning sells better than the documents alone.
It will not replace the engagement, and the honest framing matters: a toolkit tells someone how to approach the problem, it does not make the decisions for them. Consultants who oversell that distinction generate refund requests from buyers who expected the answer rather than the method.

AI consultants questions
Does selling my framework undercut my consulting?
Usually the opposite. The businesses that buy a £79 toolkit are almost never the ones that hire you for a £20,000 engagement, and the toolkit demonstrates the thinking to the ones who might. What it does do is stop you giving the same explanation away for free on introductory calls.
Business buyers expect a higher price. How high?
High enough to signal seriousness. A framework priced at £9 reads as thin to someone who spends six figures on software, and it attracts buyers who will not implement it. Business tooling is compared against the cost of the problem or of an agency, not against other digital downloads — £79 to £199 is an unremarkable range for this kind of material.
What about governance and policy material specifically?
That is often the easiest thing to sell, because the buyer needs it for a compliance reason rather than an efficiency one, and it has to exist before anything can be deployed. Policy templates, acceptable-use documents and assessment checklists sell to organisations that are under pressure to have an answer, and price accordingly.
