What you can sell

How you would use Unlockable

  1. 1

Upload the full set and cap the link, so a private mix stays private.

  2. 2

Sell an edit pack as a collection at one price.

  3. 3

Expire a link after the weekend so the mix is genuinely a moment.

  4. 4

Send the link in a Telegram channel where the crowd already is.

Why it works for DJs

A recorded set has an awkward commercial shape. It is made for a specific night, it is often built on other people’s music, and putting it on a streaming service turns a moment into a permanent artefact that will be judged out of context for years. So most sets stay on a hard drive, get sent to a few friends, and earn nothing.

A capped link treats it the way it actually exists. Available for a weekend, or to the first fifty people, then closed — which is honest about what the recording is, and creates the scarcity that a mix otherwise lacks. An edit pack is the opposite product and sells the same way: a set of tools other DJs will pay for, priced as a pack rather than per track.

The thing to be clear-eyed about is clearance. Selling a set containing other people’s records is a rights question, not a technical one, and this does not resolve it for you. Where the material is your own production, or an edit you have the right to distribute, the mechanic works cleanly.

What these sell for: Recorded sets sell at £5–£12. A capped or expiring run sits at the bottom of that range — you are selling the moment, not the file.

On a sale the buyer covers the privacy & security fee, and card processing comes out of our share — so a £8 price pays you £6.40. See the full split.

DJs questions

Can I make a mix available for one weekend only?

Yes. Set the link to expire at a chosen date and time. That suits a set that belongs to a night rather than to a permanent catalogue.

Can I limit a private mix to a set number of people?

Yes. Cap it by unlocks, so a private set stays private without you policing who forwards what.

Can I sell edits, given the sample clearance question?

You can sell whatever you have the rights to sell. Clearance is your responsibility as the seller, and it is worth being deliberate about it for edits and bootlegs in particular.
