What you can sell

How you would use Unlockable

  1. 1

Publish the uncut interview as a link, keeping the main feed free.

  2. 2

Bundle the extended cut with the transcript as a collection.

  3. 3

Add a voice note from the guest as a reason to buy this one.

  4. 4

Send it to your mailing list, where the listeners who care already are.

Why it works for podcasters

Podcasting has a structural problem: the feed is free by convention, the audience is loyal, and there is almost no way to charge for one thing. Everything the industry built for monetisation assumes either scale — so you need hundreds of thousands of downloads for advertising to matter — or a subscription, which asks a casual listener to commit before they know whether the bonus feed is any good.

This creates a middle path. A single uncut interview, an extended conversation, or an ad-free version of one episode becomes its own link at its own price. The main feed is untouched, so nothing about how people already listen has to change. The people who want the extra ninety minutes are usually the ones who already finish every episode, and they are the ones who will pay a few pounds for more of it.

It is not a replacement for a subscription model if you have one, and it will not convert the casual listener. It works on the assumption that a small share of a podcast audience is unusually engaged, which is true of most shows.

£5

Extended interview, uncut

single file

£7

Bonus episode + transcript

£20

Full season, ad-free

collection

What these sell for: Bonus episodes are £3–£7. A full ad-free season justifies £20 because the buyer is comparing it with a subscription, not an episode.

On a sale the buyer covers the privacy & security fee, and card processing comes out of our share — so a £5 price pays you £4. See the full split.

How you share it

One link, posted wherever this audience already is. You send it yourself — we do not connect to these accounts or post on your behalf.

Podcasters questions

Does this put my main feed behind a paywall?

No. Your podcast stays free wherever it is published. A bonus episode sold as a link is an addition to the feed, not a replacement for it.

Can I sell one episode without starting a membership?

That is exactly the use case. One uncut interview gets one price and one link, with no recurring commitment for you or the listener.

Can I bundle an episode with a transcript?

Yes — upload both as a collection so one payment unlocks the audio and the document together.

Upload it, set a price, share the link. No monthly fee, no membership, nothing to pay until something sells.
