What you can sell

How you would use Unlockable

  1. 1

Sell in sets rather than singles — 500 backgrounds at £15 sells where one image does not.

  2. 2

Sell the generation system separately for the buyers who want to make their own.

  3. 3

Group by use case (cinematic, corporate, minimal) rather than by generation method.

  4. 4

Cap a new pack at a launch price for the first buyers, then raise it.

Why it works for AI-generated media

Generative tools made individual assets nearly worthless, and made finished sets more valuable. Nobody needs to buy one background when they can generate one, but almost nobody wants to generate, review and sort five hundred of them into a coherent style either. The curation and the consistency are the work, and they are what the price reflects.

The higher-value product on this page is the system rather than the output. A pack sells once; the prompts, workflow, style guide and settings that produced it sell for two to three times as much to the subset of buyers who want to generate their own volume in the same style. Selling both as separate links means the same underlying work earns from the buyers who want assets and the buyers who want capability.

Two practical things should not be skipped. Provenance matters to commercial buyers and several platforms require disclosure, so naming the tool and setting out what the licence permits is part of the product rather than a footnote. And a set needs to be genuinely consistent — five hundred images in five hundred styles is a folder, not a house style, and buyers notice immediately.

What these sell for: £15–£20 per set of several hundred assets. Volume and consistency are what sell, not individual images.

On a sale the buyer covers the privacy & security fee, and card processing comes out of our share — so a £15 price pays you £12. See the full split.

AI-generated media questions

Is there a market when anyone can generate images?

Yes, but not for individual images — for curated volume, licensing clarity and a consistent look. A buyer who needs 500 backgrounds that match stylistically does not want to generate and sort them; they want the finished set. That curation, and the consistency, is the product.

Do I need to say the assets were AI-generated?

Being upfront is the safer and more saleable position. Buyers increasingly care about provenance for commercial work, and several platforms require disclosure. Stating the tool used and what the licence permits is the difference between a professional product and one a commercial buyer has to guess about.

Which is worth more — the assets or the system that made them?

Usually the system, and the gap is large. A pack of 500 backgrounds is a one-off sale; the prompts, workflow, style guide and settings that generate a consistent house style sell for two to three times as much, because the buyer can produce their own volume afterwards. Selling both, at different prices, earns from both kinds of buyer.
