Why it works for courses
A course is where most experts get stuck, because every existing option asks for something they do not have. A course platform wants a monthly fee and a catalogue; a subscription wants continuous production forever; and building a custom site is weeks of work before a single person has paid for anything.
A collection sidesteps all of it. The modules are files, the price is a single payment, and the buyer gets what they paid for without an account, a login or a progress bar. A single module can be sold separately at a lower price as an entry point, and a launch price on an expiring link rewards early buyers without permanently discounting the course.
The trade-off is real: no progress tracking, no quizzes, no drip schedule, and no certificate. If a course needs those, it needs a course platform. This suits a course that is genuinely a set of files.

Courses questions
Do I need a course platform?
Not for a one-off purchase. Upload the modules as a collection, set one price, and the buyer gets the files. A platform becomes worth it when you need progress tracking or quizzes.
Is a subscription better than a one-off price?
A subscription only wins if you keep producing. For a finished course, one payment is simpler for both sides and avoids the churn problem.
Can I sell a single module?
Yes, and it often works as a cheap entry point that leads to the full course.
Start with one piece of content
Upload it, set a price, share the link. No monthly fee, no membership, nothing to pay until something sells.
